The SCM SCR3340 express smart card reader is easily integrated with your computer and comes with a 54 mm Express Card slot. The SCM SCR3340 CAC reader, like all of our readers, is ISO 7816 compliant and used for smart cards in ID 1 format, which means that it will work with your PIV, CAC or any other government smart card you might be using. It comes complete with a durable metal casing that allows for full-integration within your computer and its open-end mouth creates convenient access for smart card insertion as well as removal. The SCM SCR3340 express smart card reader has standard USB 2.0 driver architecture with a full speed interface and even allows for in-field firmware updates. This is smaller and lighter than the SCM SCR243 PCMCIA Smart Card Reader, which gives it added portability while still remaining quite durable. No matter where you are, this smart card reader will help you comply with government security mandates. Additionally, this express smart card reader can also be fully customized with your company logo and choice of color.
Note: Communicating with your government account requires three things: a smart card, smart card reader and middleware. Even if you have the smart card inserted into your reader, you cannot securely access your account without middleware like ActivClient 7.0 used with computers that have Windows 7 64-bit, or ActivClient 6.2 for other computers. Fortunately, compITstore carries many versions of the ActivClient middleware from ActivIdentity, which will work with many different operating systems.
